DESCRIPTION

Undoubtedly the most popular town of Tuscany countryside, Siena earns its popularity thanks to the well-preserved, medieval palaces and its unique shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, one of the largest medieval square in Europe. It is in fact in this square, where every year since 14th century, has been hosted the Palio, a short but wild horse race which attracts visitors and spectators from around the world.

You will tour Siena (Sienna) with a local licensed expert guide: visit Palazzo Pubblico housing a collection of medieval maverick paintings, secular rather than religious subjects, women symbol of power as in the Allegory of Good Government. You might also challenge yourself in climbing up the adjacent Mangia Tower, highest medieval tower in Tuscany, to enjoy one of the most suggestive view over the surrounding Tuscany countryside and Chianti Hills.
You will learn the interesting history of this city, once the most important city of Tuscany, while walking in the medieval neighborhood which urban layout plan is considered one of a kind. The tour will also include the visit of the Duomo, one of the finest Roman-Gothic church ever built in Italy.

Departure to Monteriggioni for a lunch break. This was known in the middle age also as the in the "invincible fortress". For centuries this settlement carried out the function for which it was created, repelling a multitude of attacks.
After lunch, your driver will take you to the nearby San Gimignano. Here rather than fight, in the middle age, rivalries among the local rich family were revealed by building towers annexed to their dwelling, which made San Gimignano renowned as the town of the 100 towers.
