DESCRIPTION

Chianti region it is not only an heaven to wine enthusiast, but it offers a visit to a unique landscape surmounted by irregular shaped vineyards and secular olive trees, hilltop medieval villages, hidden castles and monasteries, each corner hides a special view of Tuscany countryside. With this in mind, this itinerary, winds through the countryside rolling hills, along less beaten routes.

First stop is at Montefioralle, the quintessential of Tuscany charming hill-top villages, then in Volpaia, a fortified medieval hamlet. Here we will enjoy a full typical Chianti experience, touring the small hamlet and the cellar of a wine producer consistently awarded by the Wine spectator. Along with wine tasting, you will also enjoy Tuscan Pecorino cheese and Bruschettta. Driving through Gaiole in Chianti, you will stop in Vertine, an enchanting medieval walled village.

Last stop will be at Badia a Coltibuono, a former 11th century monastery, which was eventually developed by Lorenzo De Medici, is today a famous farmhouse-Villa with typical Tuscan gardens. Coltibuono is most popular in USA, for hosting a famous Tuscany culinary school run by Lorenza De Medici (no connection with the Renaissance De Medici family) author of many traditional Italian recipes.
